  • To maintain a good working relationship with both your kitchen and front of house team

Senior Sous Chef - Full time

Job type: Senior Sous Chef – Full time

Yearly salary: £30,000-£32,000

Here at The Queens Hotel, we have an amazing opportunity for a Senior Sous Chef to join the Kitchen team in our newly refurbished venue – someone who has the experience of leading a team whilst working in a busy kitchen with fresh ingredients and produce.

The ideal candidate will be an exceptional team player displaying excellent management skills. Have a passion for food excellence and be focused on delivering high quality food. You will need to be assertive, proactive, reliable, enjoy a fast-paced environment and be able to manage our Kitchen Brigade in the absence of the Executive chef.

Supervising the food preparation staff, junior chefs, kitchen porters and managing all food related catering functions. Accountable for coordinating menus, purchasing, scheduling, food preparation. The desired candidate will be responsible for delivering a consistent, high quality product with an appetizing presentation. Works to continually improve guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget.

Apprentice chef

We are currently looking to recruit chef apprentices for the Queens hotel in Southsea this is great opportunity for aspiring cooks to take their first step on the career path to becoming a chef we are a fresh food hotel with both a high-end restaurant as well as function rooms cooking for wedding, conferences, birthdays and other special occasions.

 

The role will involve 4 days a week in the kitchen as well as one day at college during term time where you will work towards your level 2 commis chef qualification whilst honing your skills in a high-end professional kitchen.

 

Your role will involve preparation & cooking of dishes for both the a la carte and Banqueting menus working through all the kitchen sections through out your course until you feel completely comfortable in all areas of the kitchen. We are a friendly & nurturing team who want to help all our chef develop to their full potential.

 

You will have a love for food and a desire a learn about the running of a big hotel kitchen. We work long hours but have a great and friendly working environment you need to be prepared to work hard but the rewards for that in this industry are huge.

Starting pay of £6.95 p/h plus tips

Hotel Night Porter/Security

Responsible to : Duty Manager/Person in charge

Overall Objectives: To ensure the smooth running and security of the Hotel continues throughout the night.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Security of the guests by ensuring the correct maintenance of the fire exits
  • Service on the bar during silent hours
  • Ordering of newspapers and ensuring wake up calls entered on the switchboard
  • Cleaning of public areas, outside areas, lobby and reception
  • Setting up of the function rooms when requested
  • Making of reasonable requests for late night room service, and continental breakfasts etc
  • Ensuring the building is secure when all evening staff have left, and to regularly check security and fire safety throughout your shift.
  • Acceptance of night and early morning deliveries
  • Ensure all Health & Safety and Fire regulations are adhered to
  • Checking in and out of guests including the use of the PDQ payment machines
  • To attend any training or meeting as requested
  • Undertake any other duties as may be requested to ensure the overall smooth running of the Hotel.
  • Handover to morning Receptionist and Duty Manager.

Salary: £18,000.00-£24,000.00 per year- Dependant on experience
