With more than 600 meals for the community planned this week, donations and support are rolling in for the Queens Hotel.
The delicious dishes are being prepared for vulnerable people across the city and the hotel at the heart of Southsea is working with The Hive, Pompey in the City and Portsmouth City Council to ensure they don’t go hungry.
Head chef at Brasserie Blanc at Gunwharf Quays, Anghel Niko Nedelcu has joined forces with Managing Director at the Queens Hotel, Farid Yeganeh to create the meals and now they have been joined by Head Chef Paul Playford, who works at the Queens Hotel’s sister establishment, the Royal Beach Hotel.
“I’ve been working with Farid for 14 years and I was delighted to get involved and put my skills to good use,” he said.
The initiative has already attracted a £3,000 donation from a local businessman and Buckwells, the Osborne Road based butchers donated 40 kilos of chickens.

Dean said: “We try to help as much as we can and if lots of businesses do a little bit, it will all add up.
“It’s a fantastic initiative and we were delighted to help Farid and the Queens Hotel.”
Farid explained many of the suppliers of the hotel are giving food at cost price and together it means they can produce tasty meals for hundreds of people.
“None of us could just sit back and wait, we wanted to help in a practical way and we are really enjoying cooking for our community,” explained Farid.
