1. Southsea ‘s Heritage and History
The city of Portsmouth is home to a wealth of historic features; from the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (home of HMS Victory and HMS Warrior), to the notable D-Day and Mary Rose Museum’s – not forgetting Southsea Castle. 2. The Kings Theatre
Noteworthy for its heritage, the fabulous Kings Theatre stands tall on the corner of Albert Road in Southsea. The Kings was designed by architect, Frank Matcham, and first opened its doors all the way back in September 1907. In contrast to its rich heritage that Southsea boasts, the old is certainly making way for the new when it comes to the growing music scene in Southsea. From large events at the Guildhall to gigs at the Wedgewood Rooms; we’re seeing more and more acts and performers making their stamp on Portsmouth and showcasing their talent in locations across the city.
4. The Seaside Vibe
The most obvious, but well-loved, aspects of this town is of course its location! With a prime seaside setting and views across the Solent and over to the Isle of Wight, location is a key reason why so many flock to the city, especially over the summer months. 5. Victorious Festival
With incredible views over the Solent in mind, we can’t not mention one of the largest events that takes place on the heart of Southsea Common every August Bank Holiday Weekend. Victorious Festival was first introduced in 2011 and has grown in reputation and success each year since then. Don’t miss this years three day festival with Paloma Faith, Years and Years, Kaiser Chiefs and Paul Weller taking the stage – to name a few!
6.Queens Hotel Garden Parties
We had to save the best till last… We may be biased, but we couldn’t provide a list of reasons to visit Southsea this summer without mentioning our Summer Sundays Garden Parties! Every Sunday throughout the summer we provide free, live music from 12pm in our beautiful hotel grounds.
